Also its working principle and engine part is not complicated as modern-days cars. Types of electric car conversion kits

There are different types of packages or kits depending on your needs. So it is hard to explain in here deeply. Because every brand or company has different customized kits, that differs from brand to brand, model to model or performance that you expect from your electric car. The parts or kits that you are considering, has different types of electric car conversion motors, as these are the most important parts of cars, that their size varies from 7″ to 11″ size and different AMPs according to power, speed and acceleration. Also there are different volt values for engines, this affects the HP of the motor. For ex if you have a BMW and you want to convert it into a performance, pollution-frdiyee, environment and a best mileage car, then you have to spend more for a better kit with a 11″ electric motor that can produce over 100HP power. As you can see, it is a really hard point to select the right parts so it is better to consult to a dealer or if you don’t want to get involved in DIY process you can easily pick one already installed car.

Power and range of cars converted to electric with kits

We already know that this is one of the questions that somene has in mind, because electric cars have some disadvantages like range and HP. As i stated above, there are different types of kits, so it differs from electric motor to another. Simple electric motors in these kits are usually rated between 3.5 to 28 horsepower but don’t worry it is not the actual power when compared to the conventional gas engines. Because the rating system used for gas engines and electric motors are completely different so these numbers don’t make any sense. Gas engines are rated at their peak horsepower but electric motors are rated at their continuous hp so the difference comes from here. When you try to rate the peak hp of an electric motor, it will approximately 8-10 times of its continuos rating. If a electric motor has 30hp then it is going to perform like a 50-75 HP gas engine on a same weighted vehicle. Also some serious good electric motors are known with higher torques with great acceleration or even without a clutch. You can even build a race car with a perfect engine and suitable parts with around 200+ HP. So when you consider buying an electric car conversion kit, choose your electric motor part very carefully. Because it is the most important part that will effect your car’s overall performance and comfort.

As most of the electric cars’ disadvantage, these kits have cons about range. You can have a great power with a good choice of components but when it comes to range it lacks. As my research over internet i found that with these kits installed on a car can only go around 40-80 miles per charge. In fact if you install and carry more batteries with your car the range will more this time the weight will increase so performance will be lower.

So selecting the right parts for your homemade electric car is really essential and it changes with your needs.

How much will electric car conversion kit cost?

Electric car conversion cost depends on which ev conversion kits and parts you will choose. But to speak generally, prices range from 3500$ to 13.000$ if you want to convert your Porsche into an electric powered car 🙂

High quality, with higher HP rated motors and quality parts of course will cost more but it will be a wise choice if you want to use for DIY electric converted car for years.

For ex, to convert a VW Beetle into a quiet green car with high torque, you will need around 3500$ – 4000$ for the kits and ask for the installation price and other options.

This article is quite frankly terribly written. Please could someone proof read this for the ‘author’ and give them back a list of requires changes. If this article is an example of the quality of writing to be found on this site then I am really quite disappointed. Perhaps a trip down to the local high school english department would be a start.
