This year’s Geneva Motor Show is a Gearhead’s Paradise, not just because of the sheer number of unveils, but the exclusivity of the manufacturers they come from. Lets have a look at some of the most anticipated cars at the Geneva Motor Show.
“Bugatti” – the name is enough to create excitement and anticipation. And when they have a Veyron successor on display, it should be no surprise if they steal the show. This opulent car raises the already astronomical power figure of the Veyron from 1200Hp to 1500Hp via a quite resembling Quad-turbo W16 engine mated to an all-new 7-speed Dual-Clutch Transmission exclusively developed for the Chiron. 0-100 Kmph takes under 2.5 seconds and top speed is 420 kmph (261 Mph). All this will cost you a whopping $2.6 million (INR 17.5 Crore). There will be a limited production of 500 cars, one-third of which are already booked.
Lamborghini CENTENARIO Lp 770-4
The Centenario is designed as a tribute to the founder Ferruccio Lamborghini on his 100th Birthday, and it looks like an Insane Birthday Present, that can cost you a hefty $1.9 million (INR 13 Crore). Following the exclusivity of the Reventon, the Sesto Elemento and the mighty Veneno this too is a’ONE OFF” car from Lamborghini, what this means is that every Centenario is One out Of the total 40 cars to be ever produced (20 coupe and 20 roadster). And to no surprise they all are already sold to some of the most important customers of the Lamborghini family.
Talking about numbers, this car has the same 6.5 Litre V12 motor from the Aventador but here it produces 770 Hp (70 more than an aventador) which drives all four wheels and takes it from 0-100 Kmph in just 2.8 seconds and can hit a top speed of over 350 Kmph.
Pagani HUAYRA BC
“Huayra BC”- here BC stands for Benny Caiolo, who was a good friend of Horacio Pagani and was his first customer. This Huayra BC is 132 Kilos lighter and 60 Hp more powerful than the already astonishing stock Huayra. And with that massive rear wing it creates enough downforce to eat up corners easily. All this comes at an INSANE price tag of $2.5 million (INR 17 Crore). Even if you have that money and want to buy Huayra BC you simply cannot, as only 20 of them will be ever produced and all of which are already sold.
Okay, this is not its first public appearance, it was there in the last year’s Geneva Motor Show also, but this car here is the final production model and 3000 parts have been changed since last year. This car too has got 1500 Hp; similar to Bugatti Chiron? Hell no! this is a hybrid. It uses the same home grown 5 litre twin turbo V8 from Koenigsegg in conjunction with three electric motors, one on each rear wheel and the third one on the crankshaft, they all somehow combine to give over 1500 Hp to the rear wheels.
With the extensive use of Carbon Fibre and a DIRECT DRIVE sytem (no gearbox) this car weighs just around 1590 Kilos. 0-100 Kmph takes just 2.8 seconds, 0-200 Kmph takes 6.6 seconds and 0-300 Kmph is yours in 10.9 seconds while the top speed that is sbove 410 Kmph comes in under 20 seconds, these are some ludicrous numbers. And if you are so damn filthy rich that you can buy this $2 million (INR 13 Crore) Hypercar, go hurry! as only 80 of these will be ever produced and 40 of them have already been sold.
Aston Martin DB11
With the design cues inspired from the last Bond Car, the DB10; the Aston Martin DB11 is astonishingly beautiful, no doubts this is one of the best looking GT cars ever made. It’s a fresh new start for Aston Martin, from the 5.2 litre Bi-turbo V12 to the Mercedes Benz infotainment system everything here is new. This car has got 600 Hp and 700 Nm of torque available from as low as 1500 rpm and that engine is also more efficient as it now has that cylinder deactivation function which converts the V12 into a flat-6 when not much power is needed. But when needed, the same engine can take the car from 0-100 Kmph in just 3.9 seconds and the top speed is a mouth-watering 320 Kmph. With 4 comfortable seats, ample head room and spacious boot, it fulfils all the requirements for great GT cars. All this explains the price tag of $211,995 (INR 1.5 Crore).
Jaguar F-Type SVR
This is the first ever Jaguar to receive the SVR treatment from JLR. What the Special Vehicle Operations department did to the F-Type is that they increased the power to 567 Hp from the supercharged 5 litre V8, made the car lighter by extensive use of carbon fibre and aluminium, not to forget the titanium exhaust. And over on that it now has a 4-wheel drive system. So, now this beast is capable of doing a 0-100 Kmph in 3.5 seconds and an incredible 320 Kmph top speed. The car will be available in coupe as well as roadster format with prices starting at $155000 (INR 1.05 Crore).
A more of a practical approach towards grand touring with 370 litres of boot space (more than a normal hatchback) this is another great contender of the best GT cars in the world. Underneath it is the same 570S coupe with a bit more comfort, luxury and everyday usability. It has the same 3.8 litre twin turbo V8 taking it to 100 Kmph in just 3.4 seconds and a top speed of near 320 Kmph, those numbers are still awesome. Make it yours at $217000 (INR 1.5 Crore).
Another Porsche beauty which is more about the driving pleasure rather than the performance figures. How is it so – well it has a 6-speed manual transmission, no air conditioner, no radio but it plays music via a 4 litre naturally aspirated flat six motor that produces 500 Hp. With all those reductions it is the lightest Porshe 911 you can buy on the planet today. And the numbers are still great, 0-100 Kmph comes in just 3.7 seconds going flatout upto 320 Kmph. Book one now as only 911 will be ever made, prices starting at $185000 (INR 1.25 Crore)
Ferrari GTC4 LUSSO
This car is the successor to the only Ferrari with 4 seats, the Ferrari FF. With its 6.3 litre V12 engine that produces 681 Hp and drives all four wheels, this car is capable of hitting 100 Kmph in just 3.4 seconds and will do flatout 335 Kmph. And this time Ferrari has also introduced the Rear-wheel Steer system in the GTC4 Lusso which makes it an awesome handler too. Prices are yet to be announced.
After Jaguar and Bentley another luxury car maker Maserati has jumped in the luxury SUV market with the LEVANTE. Well it is more of a crossover rather than an suv with the underpinnings of the ongoing sedans Quattroporte and Ghibli. Powering the Levante will be the turbocharged 3 litre V6s with varied tuning. There will be the base petrol model with 350 Hp and a 0-100 Kmph time of 6 seconds, but the one that will be selling in numbers will be the diesel model with 275 Hp and 600 Nm of torque, and the model which we care about the most is the petrol motor found in the Levante S with 430 Hp giving it a 0-100 time of just 5.2 seconds. Other specs include an eight speed automatic transmission, for-wheel drive and a limited-slip differential. Prices are yet to be announced.
