The Frankfurt Motor Show 2013 is reconfirming the best eco friendly cars industry trends. Whether they are solely electric, hybrid or have conventional engines, the new models promise to rely less and less on oil resources. After it showed everyone that an electric car can be sexy, with the main four-door coupe sedan Karma, Fisker brought at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2013 its break version. Fisker Surf uses the same propulsion system of the Q-Drive Sedan: two electric motors with a total output of 300 kW (408 hp) and a turbo engine associated with it, of about 2.0 liters and 260 hp, which has the of a generator. Fisker Surf’s battery gives a maximum range of 80 km electric strict version pot (while in Stealth mode) and can be charged from an outlet independent source. In Sport mode, the electric motors work together with the combustion engine, so it can go from 0-100 km / h in just 5.9 seconds, while the maximum range is about 480 km. The production of this car will has already started, in the Finland factory and the price will exceed 100.000 USD.
Vauxhall Astra 1.7 CDTi ecoFLEX
Germans at Opel introduced the car in its ecological stronghold: the new Astra 1.7 CDTI ecoFLEX. With just 99 grams of CO2/km, the German compact has on its side the combined consumption of 3.7 liters/100km. The engine of the new Opel Astra 1.7 CDTI version is available in two power variants: one of 110 hp, which offers a maximum torque of 280 Nm and the 130 hp one, capable of an amounted 300 Nm torque. The small fireworks techniques such as Energy Recovery System braking, combined with the ground clearance and the start / stop system, ensures an ecological character, without any compromise.
Ford Focus ECOnetic
Ford revolutionizes the compact class, equipping the Ford Focus with the 1.6 liter TDCI engine which develops 105 hp, also equipped with a Stop & Start system. The new engine benefits from an optimized cooling system and special aerodynamic details, which are used for reducing the rolling resistance. The both transmission and executives were also upgraded, so that the new Focus ECOnetic environmentally friendly car has even an Energy Recovery System braking. In these conditions, the car has an average consume of just 3.7 litres/100 km, with emissions of just 99 g CO2/km.
Citroen DS5 Hybrid4
The french from Citroen introduced the new DS5 as being a full-hybrid version, which combines a 2.0 liter diesel engine with an electric motor. The Citroen DS5 offers therefore a maximum power of 200 hp and emissions of 99 g CO2/km. The French hybrid version can run purely in electric mode. The new Citroen DS5 HYbrid4 will reach the market by the end of this year.
Audi A8 Hybrid
The time has come for the flagship of those from Audi line to be up to the eco trends. The Audi A8 Hybrid combination of the 2.0 liter TFSI engine which develops 211 hp with the an electric motor of 54 HP and 210 Nm of torque. The sedan offers 245 hp and a torque of 480 Nm and as they are saying, it comes with a fuel consumption of just 6.4 litres/100 km. The missions are about 148 g of CO2/km.
Lexus GS 450h
The new generation of Lexus GS has the debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2013 with an environmentally friendly car: the Lexus GS 450h hybrid version. This is available with a 3.0 liter V6 engine combined with an electric motor. Thus, the maximum power of the car reaches to the value of 338hp. The Lexus GS 450h can run separately, on petrol or on the electric mode. It can reach from 0-100 km / h in only 5.6 seconds and the speedometer needle reaches 210 km / h.
Fiat Panda 0.9 Twin Air
Italians brought at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2013, the third generation of the their lower class, the Panda. The car will use the latest wrinkle of the Fiat Group, the Twin Air two-cylinder engine, which was recently awarded at the International Engine of the Year Awards in 2013. The engine will be available in two options: the 65hp and 85 hp. Fiat promises emissions below 100 g CO2/km, thanks to the smallest petrol engine in Europe.
Peugeot 508 RXH
The French from Peugeot brought at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2013, their own version of crossover derived from the 508 break platform. Unlike the competition, the Peugeot 508 RXH proposes a hybrid variant that combines a 2.0 liter Hdi, coupled to the front axle with an electric motor, this one coupling the rear wheels. The hybrid system has four modes: Automatic, Sport, 4WD and even the Zero Emission. The total power of the machine reaches to 200 hp, while the average fuel consumption amounts 4.2 l / 100 km, in terms of emissions of just 109g CO2/km.
Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid
The famous Toyota Prius is offered, finally, in a long-awaited plug-in option that allows fully charge of the battery with increased capacity in just 90 minutes, from a 220 V outlet source. The Prius’s autonomy in full electric mode increases by 21 km, while it reaches a speed of 200 km / h and it has lower emissions than others: only 49 g CO2/km. According to estimates, the new Toyota Prius Plug-In Hybrid will have a starting price of 30,000 euros, which represents an advantage over the main competitor in Europe, the Vauxhall Ampera.
Smart fortwo electric drive
Intended to go on sale in 30 countries since spring 2013, the electric version of the smart fortwo electric drive has an electric motor with a maximum power of 55 kW (74 hp). The maximum speed of the car is 120 km / h and goes from 0-60 km / h in 5 seconds. At the price of 16,000 euros and a monthly subscription of 60 euros to rent the battery, smart ForTwo Electric promises to be a successful electric city car version on the market. Moreover, the smart fortwo electric drive was virtually the only purely electric car among other environmentally friendly cars from the Frankfurt Motor Show 2013).
